Welcome to daverich.co.uk.

I am a singer/guitarist/pianist and songwriter based in Devon and currently you'll mostly find me playing solo gigs in pubs, or doing the odd duo gig with Owen.

The stuff I play is upbeat pop/rock which is great for getting folks dancing and it's stuff I enjoy playing.

I usually play piano at private functions and guitar in pubs and use backing tracks which are all produced in my studio. I do also enjoy playing acoustic gigs with no backings if that is more suited to your venue.

I play all around Devon, Cornwall and beyond, and in all sorts of venues, from pubs and clubs through to private functions.

Take a look around to find out all about me and my music or call 07792 259338 to book.

Biog

I've played in the region for about 17 years now and have released two albums commercially.

I have toured the UK with my originals band (The Dave Rich Band) and have appeared on many radio shows including Judi Spiers and Dave White locally. I have also appeared on Westcountry TV, and over the years have played over 300 gigs, from prestigious functions (top-quality military, corporate and hi-end weddings) through to many local festivals, pubs, hotels and holiday parks.

I currently play solo or as a duo, performing covers in pubs and clubs which is something I've done successfully for many years - and also with my own function band for bigger shows and private functions

I also run open-mic nights in the area, currently every Monday night at the Rising sun in Gunnislake and every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at the Halfway House in Grenofen.

Dave Rich Solo Gig

All these recordings are from a solo gig on the 7th April 2012 in the Bullers Arms in Looe. These tracks are as live and give a good representation of a Dave Rich solo gig. There are both acoustic and back-tracked tracks.

If you are interested in either an acoustic Dave Rich gig, or the acoustic duo The Deaf Frets then you can find the demo mp3 for that Here.

The Dave Rich Band

You can find some more material featuring me on the old Dave Rich Band website Here. The band is no longer working right now but there's some good stuff there.

Please note that all demos are recorded straight off the desk as live with no editing other than to make clips.

Songlist

I play a very large range of music, but mostly in the valley between rock and pop. This is by no means a complete list but will give you a good idea of the type of stuff I play. The playlist also changes a bit depending on whether I'm playing a piano show or a guitar show.

The following reviews are from my time with the Dave Rich Band. They are highlights and the entire reviews can still be found on the old Dave Rich Band website Here

guitartechniques

Guitar Techniques Magazine - august 06 edition

A very refreshing and worthwhile album indeed!

The band is currently gigging extensively in their home county of Devon but are travelling to further areas soon so make sure you get to see them.

hawicknews

Hawick News - Michael Mee - Editor

The Dave Rich Band may draw on many influences but if Overload proves one thing, its that when you put your trust in your own talent, the results are magical.

maverick

Maverick Magazine

Dave Rich is a fine lead vocalist who is also a very good songwriter. This is a creditable first album release by a promising group still in their early days, who could go a long way.

The Dave Rich Band Cabaret Voltaire gig review - Graeme Scott (Classic VR Scotland)

At times I could hear touches of Prefab Sprout and Aztec Camera in the sound that they created. Dave has written a clutch of songs that are catchy and well crafted. When coupled with the obvious playing abilities of the four musicians that he has surrounded himself with, the band have something that marks them out as well worthy of potential success.

One of my top ten albums of the year!

Classic Rock Society

This debut album for the Dave Rich Band shows them to be a very talented bunch of musicians, not afraid to lead with acoustic guitar or piano, and who draw on a variety of influences from the blues of Clapton, the scope of Floyd and the jamming of Bruce Hornsby. There's more than a little Sting influence too, which is what most comes to mind whilst listening: a kind of souped up Sting.

The tracks are very well written, almost crafted, and there lies the strength of the unit. Build on that and with a favourable wind, who knows what could happen. One to watch out for I think.

herald express

Talent Overload from Rich Band - David Lowe (Herald Express / BBC Devon)

In short, Overload is one of the most polished and melodic releases I've heard in years. It is beautifully thought-out and brilliantly executed work which deserves nationwide radio play every hour of the day. My one regret is that my own BBC Radio production brief doesn't permit me to feature such recently released material. If it did, I'd be airing selected tracks from Overload at every opportunity.

The Deaf Frets

Me and Owen ( you might have seen him play in the Needletones ) have wanted to do something together for a long while, especially after he provided such sublime guitar on the Sails and Bridges album.

This is basically me and him, just with two acoustic guitars and playing some nice stuff together.

It's small, it's intimate, it's a great chance to see some brilliant playing and hear some great music played in an acoustic way with no fuss, and to be honest we have a blast doing it!
